Phylum Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Pseudomonadales, Family Pseudomonadaceae,
Genus Pseudomonas, Pseudomonas abyssi Wei et al. 2018.
Gram-negative rods 0.4-0.6 x 2.4-2.8 µm. Motile by one or two flagella.
Colonies are circular, smooth, non-pigmented, whitish and transparent when
incubated on Marine Agar. Grows in the presence of 0-18% (w/v; 3-7% optimum)
NaCl and at 4-45 ºC, pH 4-11. Strictly aerobic.
Isolated from deep seawater in the Mariana trench.
Undetermined.

Trench. Int J Syst Evol Microbiol 2018; 68:2462-2467.
Description is based mostly on API 20 NE, API ZYM, Biolog GN2 results.
Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, catalase, lipase (C14), leucine arylamidase, nitrate reduction, naphthol-AS-BI-
phosphohydrolase, oxidase, Tween 20 hydrolysis, urease and valine aminopeptidase.
Assimilates capric acid and trisodium citrate.

acid, sebacic acid, L-alanine, L-asparagine, L-glutamic acid, L-proline, Tween 40 and Tween 80; weakly positive for
alpha-cyclodextrin, dextrin and glycogen (negative utilization of the other Biolog GN2 Microplate substrates).
Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, cystine arylamidase, alpha-chymotrypsin, aesculin hydrolysis, esterase (C4), esterase
lipase (C8), alpha-fucosidase, gelatin hydrolysis, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase,
indole production, alpha-mannosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, starch hydrolysis, trypsin, acid production from glucose.
No assimilation of: D-mannose, D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, maltose, potassium gluconate, adipic
acid, malic acid or phenylacetic acid.
No utilization of: raffinose, mono-methyl succinate, acetic acid, alpha-keto glutaric acid, alpha-keto valeric acid, succinic acid, bromo
succinic acid, succinamic acid, L-alaninamide, D-alanine, L-phenylalanine, gamma-amino butyric acid, putrescine and
