Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative, curved to straight rods, straight to V-shaped and few are beaded rods.
Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are yellow (carotenoid pigment), crusti, convex, round, and smooth. Grows
from 5 ºC to 37 ºC (but not at 40 ºC), with an optimum growth temperature of 25 ºC. The
pH range for growth is 6 to 9 with an optimum pH of 7 and can tolerate up to 1% NaCl.
Aerobic.
Isolated from a biological soil crusts sample collected in the Colorado plateau, USA.
Sensitive to amikacin, chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacin, doxycyclin, erythromycin, kanamycin, lomefloxacin, nalidixic acid, nitrofurantoin,
norfloxacin, rifampicin, streptomycin, tetracycline, tobramycin, vancomycin, and polymyxin B. Resistant to ampicilin, cephazolin,
cefoperazone, cefuroxime, cephotaxime, colistin, co-trimoxazole, lincomycin and penicillin G.
