Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative rods, 0.4-0.6 x 1.0-1.7 μm. Motile.
Colonies on TSA agar after 24 h incubation at 28 ºC are moist and creamy-white in
color due to extracellular substances. Concentrated cell pellet is beige-colored.
Grows at temperatures of 5-32 ºC, with optimum growth at 24-28 ºC. Can grow in the
presence of 0–4% (w/v) NaCl and at pH 5-8. Produce a fuorescent pigment on King B
agar. Can grow in the presence of fusidic acid, troleandomycin, rifamycin SV,
lincomycin, guanidine HCl, niaproof 4, vancomycin, tetrazolium violet, tetrazolium blue,
nalidixic acid, lithium chloride, potassium tellurite, and aztreonam.
Isolated from soil sample taken from Mt. Atago on Izu Oshima, a volcanic island located 120 km southwest of central Tokyo.

Can utilize mucic acid, D-fucose (weakly), inosine (weakly), D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetyl-glucosamine,
potassium gluconate, capric acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, alpha-D-glucose, D-mannose, D-fructose, D-galactose, D-mannitol,
glycerol, L-alanine, L-arginine, L-aspartic acid, L-glutamic acid, L-pyroglutamic acid, L-serine, D-gluconic acid, glucuronamide, mucic
acid, quinic acid, D-saccharic acid, L-lactic acid, citric acid, alpha-keto-glutaric acid, L-malic acid, gamma-amino-butryric acid,
beta-hydroxy-DL-butyric acid, propionic acid, and acetic acid.

Negative results for nitrate reduction.
No utilization of: L-histidine, D-sorbitol, trehalose, phenylacetic acid, D-arabitol, D-fructose-6-phosphate, D-aspartic acid, D-serine,
glycyl-L-proline, pectin, D-galacturonic acid, L-galactonic acid lactone, D-glucuronic acid, p-hydroxy-phenylacetic acid, D-malic acid,
bromo-succinic acid, Tween 40, alpha-keto-butyric acid and acetoacetic acid.
