Gram-negative rods, 0.9-1.3 x 2.1-3.5 µm. Weakly motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are yellow, convex and circular with a diameter of 1 mm after incubation at
30 ºC for 24h on TSA. Beta-haemolysis is not produced on Columbia agar
supplemented with 5% sheep blood. Grows on R2A agar, only weakly under
anaerobic conditions but not on cetrimide agar. Pigments are produced on King A
agar, but no pigments are visible on King B agar. Grows at temperatures between
4-30 ºC (optimum 20-25 ºC), at pH values 6.0-8.0 (optimum pH 6.5-7.5) and in the
presence of 0-5% (w/v) NaCl. (optimum, 0.5-1.0%).
Isolated from raw cow's milk in Germany.

Positive results for arginine dihydrolase, catalase, citrate utilization and denitrification.
Can utilize as sole carbon source: glycerin, L-arabinose, D-ribose, D-xylose, D-galactose, D-glucose, D-fructose, D-mannose,
D-mannitol, D-sorbitol, melibiose, D-gentiobiose and D-fucose. Weak utilization of: L-rhamnose, L-xylose and D-arabitol.

Negative results for beta-galactosidase, gelatin hydrolysis, H
2S production, indole production, oxidase, starch hydrolysis, tryptophan
deaminase and urease.
No utilization of: D-adonitol, aesculin, starch, L-arabitol, D-arabinose, arbutin, amygdalin, cellobiose, dulcitol, erythritol, L-fucose,
glycogen, methyl alpha-D-glucoside, inulin, inositol, maltose, methyl alpha-D-mannoside, melezitose, N-acetylglucosamine,
potassium-gluconate, 2- and  5-ketogluconate, raffinose, salicin, L-sorbose, sucrose, trehalose, D-tagatose, turanose, xylitol and
methyl beta-D-xylopyranose.

Variable results for lysine decarboxylase (2/3), ornithine decarboxylase (1/3) and Voges-Proskauer reaction (2/3).
