Pseudomonas deceptionensis
Positive results for acid phosphatase,  catalase, leucine arylamidase, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolaseoxidase, oxidase, urease, acid
production (API 50 H) from: D- and L-arabinose, D-fructose, cellobiose, D- and L-fucose, D-galactose, glycerol, D-glucose, gentiobiose,
inositol, lactose, D-mannitol, D-mannose, maltose, melibiose, raffinose, D-ribose, sucrose, trehalose and D-xylose.
Can utilize: D-xylose, sucrose, mannitol, malate, D-fructose, L-arabinose, acetate (weakly), trehalose, D-galactose, D-glucuronic acid,
D-fucose, glucuronamide, acetoacetic acid, L-fucose and quinic acid.

Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, caseinase, esculin hydrolysis, esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8), alpha-fucosidase,
gelatinase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, H
2S production, indole  production,
lecithinase, lipase (C14), nitrate reduction, cystine arylamidase, trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase,
alpha-mannosidase, starch hydrolysis, Tween 80 hydrolysis and valine arylamidase.
No utilization of L-xylose, maltose, N-Acetylglucosamine, erythritol, D-mannose, D-galacturonic acid, glycerol, L-glutamic acid,
L-histidine and L-pyroglutamic acid.

Phylum Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Pseudomonadales, Family Pseudomonadaceae,

Pseudomonas deceptionensis Carrion et al. 2011.
Gram-negative rods, 0.8 x 1.5-2.0 µm. Motile by means of a single polar flagella.
Non-spore-forming.
After 72 h of incubation at 20 ºC on TSA, colonies are 1.5-2.0 mm in diameter, white,
round, mucous and slightly convex. Does not produce fluorescent pigments on King’s
B medium. Growth occurs at -4 to 34 ºC and at pH 5-10. NaCl is tolerated at
concentrations up to 6% (w/v). Haemolysis is not produced. Aerobic. Growth on
Marine Agar is very poor under anaerobic conditions.
Isolated from a marine sediment sample collected from Deception Island, South Shetland Islands, Antarctica.
Can grow in the presence of 1% sodium lactate, troleandomycin, lincomycin, vancomycin, aztreonam, fusic acid, rifampicin SV,
tetrazolium violet, niaproof 4 and potassium telurite.
