Stutzerimonas frequens Gomila et al. 2022.
Gram-negative rods, 0.8-2.0 x 2.0-5.0 µm. Motile by one polar flagellum. Non-spore
forming.
Colonies are round, beige color, 2-5 mm in diameter after growth for 48 h at 30 ºC on
Luria-Bertani plates. Colonies are strongly attached to the agar. Growth temperature
range 4-37 ºC (optimum 30 ºC), pH range 6-10, NaCl range 0-8%. Pigment is not
produced on King A and King B media. Facultatively aerobic.
Isolated from wastewater treatment plant, Santa Ponça, Spain, Pacific Ocean, near Hawai, groundwater South-west Taiwan,  
hydrothermal vent Greece, microplastics, P
hragmites australis and Spartina patens rhizosphere, Black Sea 120m depth.

Positive results for catalase, nitrate reduction to nitrite and N2, oxidase.
Can assimilate (API 20 NE): glucose, maltose, gluconate, caprate, malate, and citrate.
Can utilize (Biolog GEN III): alpha-D-glucose, Tween 40, dextrin, D-mannitol, methyl pyruvate, gamma-amino-butyric acid, D-maltose,
D-fructose, L-alanine, alpha-hydroxy butyric acid, D-gluconic acid, L-lactic acid, beta-hydroxy-D, L-butyric acid, glycerol, citric acid,
alpha-ketobutyric acid, L-glutamic acid, alpha-ketoglutaric acid, D- and L-malic acid, propionic acid, acetic acid, bromo-succinic acid
and formic acid.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, beta-glucosidase, gelatinase, beta-galactosidase, indole production, urease and acid
production from glucose.
No assimilation of L-arabinose, mannose, mannitol, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, adipate and phenylacetate.
No utilization of: L-aspartic acid, D-raffinose, D-sorbitol, gelatin, pectin, p-hydroxy-phenylacetic acid, alpha-D-lactose, D-mannose,
glycyl-L-proline, D-galacturonic acid, D-melibiose, D-arabitol, D-galactonic acid lactone, D-lactic acid methyl ester, D-trehalose,
beta-methyl-D-glucoside, D-galactose, myo-inositol, L-arginine, D-cellobiose, D-salicin, 3-methylglucose, gentiobiose,
N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, D-glucose-6-phosphate, glucuronamide, D-glucuronic acid, acetoacetic acid, N-acetyl-beta-D-mannosamine,
