Description is based on API 20 NE, API ZYM and Biolog GN2 results.

Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, catalase, esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8), lipase (C14), leucine arylamidase,
naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, oxidase, Tween 20 and 40 hydrolysis.
Assimilates capric acid, D-mannose, adipic acid, trisodium citrate and malic acid.
Can utilize (Biolog GN2 Microplate): bromosuccinic acid, L-alaninamide, alpha-ketovaleric acid, L-phenylalanine, Tween 40, Tween
80, D,L-lactic acid, D- and L-alanine, L-proline, putrescine, propionic acid, pyruvic acid mehthyl ester, beta-hydroxybutyric acid,
L-alanyl-glycine, L-asparagine, L-glutamic acid, sebacic acid, succinic acid monomethyl ester and succinic acid; weakly positive or
negative utilization of the other substrates.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, cystine arylamidase, DNase, esculin hydrolysis, alpha-fucosidase, gelatinase, alpha- and
beta-galactosidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, beta-glucuronidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, indole production,
alpha-mannosidase, nitrate reduction, urease, alpha-chymotrypsin, valine arylamidase and glucose fermentation.
No assimilation of: D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, maltose, potassium gluconate or phenylacetic acid.

Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-stain-negative rods, 0.4-0.6 x 2.1-2.6 μm. Motile by one polar flagellum.
Colonies are circular, smooth, non-pigmented, whitish and transparent. Fluorescent
pigments are not produced in King B medium. Strictly aerobic. Growth occurs at 4-41
ºC, pH 6.0-10.0 and with 0-10% NaCl.
Isolated from deep seawater.
Undetermined.
