Halopseudomonas phragmitis
Description is based mostly on API 20NE, API ZYM and Biolog GN2 results.

Positive results for catalase, lipase, leucine arylamidase, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, nitrate reduction and oxidase.
Can utilize as sole carbon source: capric acid, malic acid and trisodium citrate.
Can utilize in Biolog GN2 tests: glycogen, Tween 40 and 80, pyruvic acid methyl ester, succinic acid monomethyl ester, acetic acid,
cisaconitic acid, citric acid, formic acid, alpha-, beta- and gamma-hydroxybutyric acid, alpha-ketobutyric acid, DL-lactic acid, propionic
acid, sebacic acid, succinic acid, bromosuccinic acid, L-alaninamide, D- and L-alanine, L-asparagine, L-aspartic acid, L-glutamic
acid, L-histidine, L-proline, L-leucine (weak), gamma-aminobutyric acid, urocanic acid and putrescine (negative for other tests).

Negative results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, arginine dihydrolase, aesculin hydrolysis, esterase, gelatin hydrolysis,
denitrification to N
2, indole production, urease and glucose fermentation.
No utilization of: D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, maltose, gluconate and phenylacetic acid.
No utilization in Biolog GN2: dextrin, L-arabinose, alpha-D-glucose, lactulose, D-galacturonic acid, itaconic acid, alpha-ketoglutaric
acid, D- and L-serine, thymidine and glucose-6-phosphate.

Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative rods, 1.0-2.5 x 0.3-0.5 µm. Motile by means of a single polar flagellum.
Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on LB are smooth, circular and creamy yellow. Growth occurs at 10-41 ºC,
pH 6-10 and in 0-10% (w/v) NaCl. Neither pyocyanin nor fluorescent pigment is
produced on King A or King B agar.
Isolated from petroleum-polluted river sediment, Huangdao, Shandong Province, China.
Undetermined.
