Phylum Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Pseudomonadales, Family Pseudomonadaceae,
Genus Pseudomonas, Pseudomonas nicosulfuronedens Li et al. 2021.
Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative rods, 0.3-0.7 x 1.2-1.7 µm. Motile by one or two flagella.
Grows at 20-35 ºC (optimum, 30 ºC), at pH 5.0-10.0 (optimum, pH 6.0) and in the
presence of 0-4.0% NaCl (optimum, 2.0%). Aerobic.
Isolated from a nicosulfuron-degrading microbial consortium.
Sensitive to gentamicin (10µg). Resistant to tetracycline (30µg), clindamycin (2µg), sulfamethoxazole (300µg), chloramphenicol
(30µg), erythromycin (15µg), vancomycin (30µg) and ampicillin (10µg).

Positive results for arginine dihydrolase, catalase, nitrate reduction and oxidase.
Can utilize as sole carbon source: acetic acid, L-threonine, D-glucose, gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, citrate and
phenylacetic acid.
Negative results for gelatinase, indole production, starch hydrolysis, Tweens 20, 40, 60 and 80 hydrolysis, urease, acid production
from glucose.
No utilization of: L-histidine, D- and L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetyl-glucosamine, maltose, erythritol, D-ribose, D- and
L-xylose, D-adonitol, methyl beta-D-xylopyranoside, D-galactose, D-fructose, L-sorbose, L-rhamnose, dulcitol, inositol, D-sorbitol,
methyl alpha-D-mannopyranoside, methyl alpha-D-glucopyranoside, N-acetyl-glucosamine, amygdalin, arbutin, salicin, cellobiose,
lactose, melibiose, sucrose, trehalose, inulin, melezitose, raffinose, glycogen, xylitol, gentiobiose, turanose, D-lyxose, D-tagatose, D-
and L-fucose, D- and L-arabitol, potassium gluconate, potassium 2- and 5-ketogluconate.
