Phylum Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Pseudomonadales, Family Pseudomonadaceae,
Genus Pseudomonas, Pseudomonas peli Vanparys et al. 2006.
Gram-negative cells, rod-shaped (1 µm wide and 2–3 µm long) with rounded ends,
motile, nonspore-forming and nonfluorescent.
After 24 h incubation at 28 ºC on TSA, colonies are 1-2 mm, smooth, round with
irregular edges and beige to yellow. Good growth is observed at 28-37 ºC, but not
below 20 ºC or above 45 ºC. No anaerobic growth is observed. Medium: TSA.
Isolated from nitrifying inoculum (activated sludge).

Positive results for catalase, esterase-lipase, lipase (weak), leucine arylamidase,
oxidase, utilization of acetoacetic acid, methyl pyruvate, beta-hydroxy-D,L-butyric acid,
bromosuccinic acid, alpha-ketoglutaric acid, formic acid (weakly), L-lactic acid, malate, D- and L-serine.
Negative results for nitrates reduction, alkaline phosphatase, esterase, valine arylamidase, trypsin, chymotrypsin, acid phosphatase,
cystine arylamidase, alpha-galactosidase, beta - galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha-glucosidase, beta-glucosidase,
N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, alpha-mannosidase, alpha-fucosidase, indole production, acidification of glucose, arginine
dihydrolase, urease, aesculin hydrolysis and gelatin hydrolysis are negative.
No utilization of L-alanine, glycerol, arabinose, D-ribose, D-xylose, D-galactose, D-glucose, D-fructose, D-mannose, D-mannitol,
N-acetylglucosamine, D-maltose, sucrose, D-trehalose, arabitol, gluconate, caprate, adipate, phenylacetate, erythritol, L-xylose,
D-adonitol, methyl beta-D-xyloside, L-sorbose, L-rhamnose, dulcitol, inositol, D-sorbitol, methyl alpha-D-mannoside, methyl
alpha-D-glucoside, amygdalin, arbutin, aesculin, salicin, D-cellobiose, D-lactose, D-melibiose, inulin, D-melezitose, D-raffinose,
starch, glycogen, xylitol, gentiobiose, D-turanose, D-lyxose, D-tagatose, fucose, 2- and 5-ketogluconate.
