Pseudomonas thermotolerans Manaia and Moore 2002.

Species decription is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative rods, 0.4-0.7 x 1.0-1.5 µm. Motile by a single polar flagellum;
sometimes a short lateral flagellum. Non-spore-forming. No accumulation of
poly-beta-hydroxybutyrate.
Colonies grown on LA medium are not pigmented and are 1-2 mm in diameter after
24 h growth; fluorescence is not produced on King B medium. Grows at temperature
of  25-56 ºC (optimum 47 ºC), at pH values of 6.0-10.0 and in 3% NaCl. Strictly aerobic.
Isolated from  a powdered charcoal sample of unknown origin in 2012 in Alabama, USA.

Positive results for arginine dihydrolase, catalase, oxidase, Tween 20 and 80 hydrolysis .
Can utilize as sole carbon source: capric acid, acetate, propionate, caproate, malate, betaine, L-asparagine, L-arginine, L-serine,
L-glutamine, L-alanine, L-isoleucine, L-proline, dodecane, tridecane, hexadecane, nonadecane, eicosane, palmitic acid, octanoic
acid, octanal, 1-octanol, lauryl alcohol, Tween 80 and SDS.

Negative results for aesculin hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis, nitrate reduction, denitrification, starch hydrolysis and urease.
No utilization of: D-mannose, D-trehalose, D-cellobiose, L-arabinose, D-glucose, L-sorbose, D-sucrose, D-xylose, D-maltose,
gluconate, phenylacetate, citrate, adipate, D-mannitol, glycerol, pyruvate, succinate, L-lysine, glycine, L-cysteine, L-phenylalanine,
L-histidine, N-acetylglucosamine, decane, benzoate, salicylate, naphthalene, anthracene and phenanthrene.
