Gram-positive cocci, 0.5-0.8 μm, occuring singly or in pairs, tetrads or clumps. Non-
motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are round, smooth, and slightly convex with pinkish color and non-diffusible
pigment. Alkaliphilic; growth occurs at pH 6.5-11.5; optimum at pH 9.5. Moderately
halophilic; growth occurs in media containing 0-25% NaCl; optimum 10% NaCl.
Growth at 10-49 ºC; optimal growth at 32 ºC.
Isolated from Baer Soda Lake in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China.

D-xylose.
