Gram-positive cocci, 1 μm in diameter, occuring singly, in pairs or in clusters. Non-
spore-forming. Non-motile.
Colonies are 1-2 mm in diameter, white, circular, smooth, slightly convex, glistening
and opaque with entire margins after 48h incubation at 35 ºC. Some strains are
yellow pigmented after 3-5 days incubation. Facultatively anaerobic, growing better
aerobically.
Isolated from human blood cultures in different German and Belgian medical facilities. Sensitive to novobiocin, vancomycin,
rifampicin, fusidic acid, linezolid, gentamicin, tobramicin, amikacin and netilmicin. Resistant to fosfomycin and polymyxin B.
