Gram-negative, coccoid rods, motile by means of more than one polar flagellum.
Colonies on Marine agar are nonpigmented, translucent, nonswarming.
Luminescent.Colonies on TCBS agar are round, 2-3 mm and green coloured. Growth
occurs in 0.9-3.5% NaCl (w/v) media, but not at 0.5, 6, 8 or 10% NaCl. Grows at 10-25
ºC, but not at 4, 30 or 37 ºC.
Isolated from seawater of Sagami bay in Japan.

Positive results for alkaline phosphatase, leucine arylamidase, acid phosphatase,
alpha-galactosidase, beta-galactosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, nitrates
reduction to nitrites (not to N2) and catalase.
Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, lysine decarboxylase, ornithine decarboxylase, urease, tryptophan deaminase, gelatinase,
esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8), lipase (C4), valine arylamidase, cystine arylamidase, trypsin, chymotrypsin, beta-glucuronidase,
alpha-glucosidase, beta-glucosidase, alpha-mannosidase, alpha-fucosidase, oxidase, fermentation of: glucose and sucrose.
